Q :Do you think L1 reading skills transferred to L2 reading skills?
How about your case?

In learning L2, L1 or mothertounge helps to acquire Second Language. It is called "transfer" But, in may case, it didn't happen to me. I think L1-reading skills didn't transfer to L2 reading skill especially in korean. As you know, many people recognize that there are a lot of difference between Korea language and English. because of difference between them, korea students have difficulty in acquiring L2, even though they invested their time about for 10 years in public education. It is likely to be evidence proves L1 is korea language could be transferred to L2 Why it is impossible?
The first reason is that korea language has differen arrangement of language.
I mean that subject is first and then objects or complement are ahead of verb. On the other hands, subject is first and then, verb is ahead of object or complement. So, many korea students misunderstand in interpretating a text of english and have problem in translating korea to eglish.
The secodn reason is cultures of language which languages are based on are different. I don't know exactly which sentence is appropriate exmaple. But sometimes even though we interpretated a text excatly, knew all of vocabulary and understood grammar, we couldnt' understand what a text is saying and what a text contains.
These difficulty korea students have is also in Japan.
